"Tickets go on sale tonight at midnight," I said.
"They do? How many?" My husband inquired.
"Only 200." I replied.
"Buy one, I will make it work. I support you 100%."
And so began my journey to Relevant 2010, a Christian conference for bloggers. It will be held in Harrisburg, PA this coming October. The gals behind Relevant, Sarah Mae, Jessica Heights, and Dana Adams met through their blogs and in person at the Type-A Mom conference. Here is what they said about that meeting:
While chatting in a hotel room in the wee hours of the night, a spark ignited, and a simple conversation about the desire to attend a Christian women’s blogging conference soon turned into a heart fire of creating one. Such began not only a friendship, but a conference for women who want to be relevant in the larger blog and social media world, while also blessing their families and living a fully integrated life with their faith and family.
When I read this description my heart said, "Wait a minute that is me!" And apparently I began to talk about it to my husband. A lot. So much so, that he was willing to do whatever it took to get me to the conference. When I asked him why, he said, "This is the first thing in a long time you have been passionate about. And I want you to pursue it because it I think it will truly bless you."
One of the other things that attracted me to this conference is the amazing line up of speakers. First, they want to fill your heart with encouragement through the Word of God. Then they want to connect you with like minded women. Technology and blogging will be addressed of course, but it is not the only reason for the conference. There is a higher purpose at work here!
So with the Lord's invitation and my husband's support I'm going. And yes, you will probably hear much more in the days ahead about this giant leap of faith. I feel like Bob, "Baby steps on the plane....baby steps to the conference...baby steps to get my coffee mug autographed by Sarah Mae..."
I believe there are a few more tickets left for this one of a kind conference. If you are a Christian woman who delights in being encouraged, you blog or read any blogs (hint you are reading mine!), you secretly wish you could write like Ann Voskamp, or save money like Crystal Paine, or just want to sit near Kimba in hopes that some of her creativity will rub off on you.. then run quickly to The Relevant Conference website and buy a ticket. I know you will be glad you did!
P.S. I am also connecting my post to Gather Inspirit. It's purpose is to encourage bloggers and has grown out of the Relevant community. They are featuring one Relevant attendee per day for the next 196 days until the conference begins. Today, it just happens to be me. How cool is that? Even if you are not going to join me at the conference, stop by Gather Inspirit, meet some awesome Christian bloggers and be encouraged!
